Flowers Between Us

Screenplay · Drama · In development

Logline

After the loss of their child, a marriage is left struggling under the weight of grief. A woman's temporary memory loss gives her and her husband an unexpected chance to rediscover the love they once shared. But rebuilding their relationship means confronting the pain neither has fully learned to face.

Story behind the story

I wanted to write a story about love, not just the beginning of love or the excitement of falling in love with someone. I wanted to explore love beyond feelings, because I believe love is more than an emotion.

Flowers Between Us is about rebuilding something that was never completely gone. Osea and Hannah have a history together: memories, experiences, and a love that once came naturally to them. After experiencing something so painful, they begin to struggle with how to love each other in the same way.

One idea I wanted to explore was the importance of memory in relationships. Memories carry our feelings and help us understand why someone means so much to us. But I wondered whether remembering everything is necessary to love someone. Through Hannah's memory loss, I wanted to ask whether love can be rediscovered, not because the past has disappeared, but because two people begin to see each other differently. Through Osea, I also wanted to explore a biblical understanding of love, particularly the kind of sacrificial and enduring love Christ showed the Church. His love for Hannah is not simply about how he feels, but about his willingness to remain, to care, and to love even through hard circumstances.

The story is about grief, forgiveness, and learning to understand someone else's pain.

Visual direction

Flowers, intimate domestic spaces, soft natural light, and photographs that suggest memory and emotional closeness. An understated romantic drama, never a bright romance.
